James England Voted Chiropractor of the Year 2007
During the past year, the KAC underwent major restructuring in its administrative office. If it weren’t for the untold hours Dr. James England dedicated to this organization, the KAC would have never survived. During the 7 months when the KAC had no paid office staff prior to hiring an Executive Director, Dr. England created and mailed out over 2800 seminar registrations and invoices, revamped databases, and collected thousands of dollars that were in arrears. For this and many other reasons, Dr. England was awarded the prestigious KAC “Chiropractor of the Year” award.
State Rep. Dennis Keene is the KAC's “Legislator of the Year”
Rep. Dennis Keene (D-Wilder), prime sponsor of KAC’s fair and reasonable insurance reimbursement bill (HB 352), was honored for his support and commitment to Chiropractic. Keene was presented with KAC’s “Legislator of the Year” award at the Convention Luncheon, followed by a lengthy standing ovation. Words cannot express our appreciation to Rep. Keene as he continues to fight for our profession.
KAC Successful in Changing Standard Benefit Health Plan
It took over a year, testifying before several committee meetings, several letters of complaint, and a lot of tenacity, but KAC finally secured several positive changes to the Kentucky Standard Health Benefit Plan. The charge was led by Dr. Andrew Slavik, KAC Insurance Committee Chairman.
Changes include a definition for Doctor of Chiropractic, the number of visits for a patient was increased by ten from 20 visits to 30 visits per year, and most important, there were major changes in how modalities are counted. Previously, a modality and a manipulation were counted as two separate visits, even if done the same time on the same day. Now, modalities performed with a therapy or manipulative treatment do not constitute a separate visit.
